Ground Water Issues Cause Mold

12/15/2018 (Permalink)

Ground water causing mold in the crawl space of multiple units in adult community.  SERVPRO of Marlboro/Tinton Falls was called in by the property manager of the adult community to take care of a mold issue in one of their units.  Upon inspection we noticed a musty smell and what appeared to be mold growth in the crawl space.  We were told they were not going to do testing and to just treat it as a mold remediation.  After inspecting the entire crawl space, we noticed there were cracks in the foundation which was letting water in. The property manager will need to fix the cracks in order to ensure this problem doesn’t keep happening.  When we finished the crawl space the property manager was happy with our services and showed us another unit that had issues.  Now we have a great working relationship with this property manager and look forward to working with them in the future.

After Cleaning Carpets We Place Air Mover To Dry The Carpets Faster

Routine carpet cleaning are important to commercial buildings because carpets act as a filter, trapping dirt, dust animal hair and basically anything you walk on outside.  Manufactures suggest the following:

  • If you have a spill attend to the stain as soon as possible because the longer the stain stands the harder it will be to remove later
  • Buying a good vacuum and vacuum regularly so the soils don’t build up
  • Maintenance carpet cleaning in light soil rating = 1-2 times annually, medium soil rating = 6-12 times annually and heavy soil rating = 12-52 times annually

Clean carpets also allow for a healthier work environment, maintains the value of the property and send a message to your clients/customers that you take pride in your company and that shows them you will do the same for them.  If you would like to set up a carpet cleaning maintenance schedule with us please call 732-536-7555 or email us at

Checking Your Fire Extinguisher Expiration Date

10/26/2017 (Permalink)

Commercial Kitchen Fire in Deal, NJ

It is very important to check your fire extinguishers expiration dates because over time the seal around the neck could weaken and loose compressed air.  Some manufactures say that fire extinguishers should last from 3 to 15 years but that’s a big gap in years.  So with that said probably checking them monthly is a better rule of thumb.  It doesn’t take much to do all you have to do is make sure the safety pin is still in and make sure the needle is in the green area of the gauge.  If it is not functioning then you will need to get the extinguisher serviced or purchase a new one.  To have one serviced check the internet or the yellow pages under “fire extinguishers”.
